About Our Company:
"Small Company - Big Ideas"  While are company may be small, you can be assured that you will receive the highest level of professionalism and service in the industry.  We continually strive to improve our technical knowledge and level of expertise by attending annual events such as the National Chimney Sweep Guild Conference, the Hearth, Patio, and Barbecue Association Conference, the Midwest Chimney Safety Council Conference, Masonry Heater Association Annual Meeting and the Johnson County Licensing Training Programs offered twice per year.  We also teach at many of these events.  The bottom line is - we know chimneys.

Our Senior Staff:

 National Fireplace InstituteTraining/Reports/Marketing, expert consulting: Marge Padgitt, President, and CEO, is the technical advisor in our office. She holds a B.A. degree in Business and an M.A. in Technical Writing.  Margie is an NFI Certified Woodburning Specialist.  She writes most of our fire investigation and chimney inspection reports and estimates.   Marge is past president and currently Educational Director of the Midwest Chimney Safety Council, sits on two U.L. Technical Standards Committees, and writes articles for industry and public publications. She is a frequent guest on radio shows and does interviews for newspapers and magazines. Marge does training seminars for insurance adjusters, code and fire officials, chimney sweeps, and the general public. Please see our seminar page for more information on education. Marge is currently working on a documentary of the history of chimney sweeps. 

National Fireplace InstituteFireplace/Chimney Designer, Fire Investigations, Estimates and Inspections: Gene Padgitt Vice -President and COO, is our master chimney technician and mason. He is a Certified Chimney Sweep by the Chimney Safety Institute of America, a State Certified Fire Investigator.  Gene has 23 years experience in chimney restoration.  He is a Licensed Mechanical Contractor, has a degree in HVAC, welding certificates, and additional certificates in the industry. He has served on the board of directors for the Midwest Chimney Safety Council and served on the board for the Society of Professional Property Inspectors. Gene's primary duties are chimney and fireplace design, fire investigations, and difficult jobs. More about Gene.  


Office Manager: Tamie Dorsch has been with the company for four years.  She is the office manager and oversees appointments for cleaning, inspections, and estimates.  She schedules all of the field work, provides pricing on stoves, fireplaces, and inserts, writes some estimates, and much more!   We don't know how she gets everything done!


Lead Reliner:
Tony Gross, CCS -  is a Certified Chimney Sweep, and does many of our inspections for real estate, insurance, and homeowners.  He has been with the company for 10 years. Tony is  a lead reliner, and does excellent crown repair, tuckpointing, installs dampers and chimney covers, and does firebox repairs and masonry work.  He also does most of our dryer vent cleaning, gutter cleaning, water repellant application, and assembly of materials.    

Sweep's assistant: Rick Cline started with the company in May, 2006 and is a laborer and assistant sweep in training to be come a full-time chimney sweep/inspector.

Webmaster/Bookeeper:  Maria Thomas is our webmaster and bookkeeper and handles accounts receivables and payables.  She has been with the company for 14 years. 

Office Assistant: Rachel Timmons is a scheduler and office assistant.  She has been with the company for 12 years. 

Assistant: Henry McKenzie takes deliveries, and designs and builds some of our equipment.

AWARDS

These are awards for design and construction by Gene Padgitt-

2006: 2nd Place, Exterior Specialty,  KC Chapter National Association of the Remodeling Industry. Rebuilt three 1860's chimneys to original design.
2004:
1st Place, Chimney Construction, Midwest Chimney Safety Council. Rebuilt five 1880's chimneys to original design.
2004:
2nd Place, Exterior Specialty, KC Chapter National Association of the Remodeling Industry. Rebuilt five 1880's chimneys to original design.
2003:
1st Place, Fireplace Design and Construction, The Home Book Awards. Designed and built a Rumford style fireplace, stone facial wall,  and chimney.
2002:
1st Place, Chimney Building, Midwest Chimney Safety Council.
1992:
1st Place Chimney Construction, National Chimney Sweep Guild. Built chimney on site in competition.
