Wood-Fired Indoor Brick Bake Oven
 |
BEFORE
This was an unfinished indoor barbeque that the homeowners wanted
to convert to a fireplace at first, until Gene told them about indoor
bake ovens. The Sullivan's decided to go with the bake oven idea
instead. |
 |
DURING
Corbeled supports were added to hold the heavy limestone slab, and the
interior is started. Part of the old bricks are removed to make room
for insulation and firebrick. |
 |
The bake oven interior is constructed with firebrick, and ceramic
wool insulation is installed around the oven. |
|
The finished oven with keystone and cast iron door installed.
The interior has enough room to cook a 10" pizza or hold a small
roasting pan.
Note that the bricks around the oven are mirror images of the bricks
beside them. |

Note: the brick has just been acid washed and the mortar is still wet.
When dry, the mortar color will match the other mortar. |
