Chimney Crowns
The crown is the cement cap, "wash" or "splay" on top of a masonry chimney, and is necessary to keep rain out of the chimney chase. If you need a replacement crown for chimney restoration, or a new crown for a new chimney, you have several choices of styles:

The photos at the left are typical examples of cement crowns that have cracked and separated from the chimney due to years of moisture penetration and weathering. |

Regular Crown:
This type of crown is made with a slope for water
runoff. It does not extend beyond the edge of the brick or
stone. We use a latex bonding agent in our mortar mix. Price range= $250 - $450 for standard sizes. Larger sizes may cost more. |

Poured Formed
Crown with 2-3" overhang. This crown
gives more protection to the top course of bricks or stones. Price range= $400 - $650 |

Victorian Crown: This
is a specialty crown made with a mold. It gives a nice finish to the
top of the chimney and provides a little more rain protection for the
chimney sides. Price range= $800 - $1200 We have other styles in the same price range. |
We also use a product called Crown Seal, which covers deteriorating crowns with a rubberized coating and is impervious to moisture. Sometimes we recommend using this instead of rebuilding the crown.
